Selkirk Outdoor Leadership & Education (SOLE), Inc
501(c)(3) nonprofit, Selkirk Outdoor Leadership and Education (SOLE), Inc. was born out of a sincere and profound desire to provide intentional and transformational experiential and outdoor education programming for key stakeholders throughout the Inland Northwest and beyond despite existing socio-economic barriers.
From the beginning in 2012, Dennison Webb, MA, founder and executive director, envisioned creating a dynamic community resource that could helps support the various educational and developmental needs centered on the evidence-based practices related to the field of experiential education. By it’s forth official season (2016) SOLE had grown to serve over 1,200 youth annually, over 70% experiencing exploring and learning in and about their wildlands for the first time when participating with SOLE - over 50% of whom are rrural underserved youth.
By 2017, SOLE began receiving regional and national attention for their novel approach to place-based experiential education. SOLE’s film, SnowSchool: Exploring our Winter Wildlands showcased our proven partnership with the National SnowSchool program, and the development of award-winning E-STEM curriculum which received the 2017 Innovation Award from the Idaho Nonprofit Center.
We hope you join us for one of our intentional and transformational experiential education programs, or events to ensure that we are able to reach and teach underserved rural youth in the Inland Northwest and beyond!
